Richard Riley is a Chartered Certified Accountant with thirty years experience in large and SME companies both in the UK and overseas. He has a unique mix of talents having combined his long career as an Accountant and Entrepreneur with a passion for broadcasting which has led to him presenting news and current affairs programmes for the BBC over a twenty year period. Qualifying as an Accountant with Sotheby's, the Fine Art Auctioneers, he went on to travel many countries with a large multi national construction, steel and foundry business owned by Burmah Castrol.
I began working for Richard in Sep 2010 after achieving my full Accounting Technician qualification through AAT. Prior to this I have had a variety of roles, from being a fully qualified Dispenser with Boots the Chemists, to Training Manager in the MediSense Division of Abbott Labs – I can tell you all about diabetes while counting your pills! I fell into accountancy after taking redundancy with Abbott Labs after the birth of my second daughter – while deciding what to do after this, I took a few temp jobs, and found that there was a short supply of trained accounting technicians. The rest, as they say, is history. I have now just started training with ACCA to become fully qualified accountant.
I have worked for Richard Riley and Associates since Nov 2012 and love the working atmosphere we have created here. Prior to working for Richard I worked in the NHS as a physiotherapist and I have absolutely no regrets in my decision to make a career change! I was looking for a job that would suit my family (I’m a mum of 3 beautiful girls) and hopefully utilise my natural love of working with numbers. I started asking around and quickly found out Richard was looking for an extra member of staff. I truly felt I had landed on my feet as Richard’s policy is to hire based on the correct attitude and he feels everything else can be learnt. Since starting here I have received extensive on the job training and AAT/ACCA courses that have been supported.
I have been working for Richard Riley and Associates since September 2013. I was returning to work after taking time off to have my 2 children. Previously I worked in secondary schools as a Learning Support Assistant but knew I wanted to change career. I am now a level 2 qualified Accounting Technician and love my job and all it entails. Richard is a fabulous boss who told me in my interview that my family comes first and that has never changed. The office is somewhere I want to be in the morning as we all have a great working relationship and I feel I can truly say all the girls (and Richard) are not just my work colleagues but my friends.
I started work at Richard Riley and associates in November 2015 it was the best decision I have ever made workwise. My previous job was a Teaching Assistant so the transition to Admin Assistant was quite a change but with the help and support of the wonderful girls in the office I now feel right at home. I am a single parent and at times it can be difficult juggling family and work but as Richard’s such a brilliant boss he promotes the fact that family come first.
I have a varied working background – I started my career in software development and worked my way up to project management level before becoming a technology, project management and development process trainer. Since having my 2 wonderful children, I have undertaken more administrative roles such as recruitment and health and safety before finding my position here at Richard Riley. With the support of everyone in the company, I am now in the process of completing my AAT qualifications. When not at work, or looking after the children, I enjoy walking and crafting.
Bizkidz is a new childcare company based in Chalgrove in Oxford. Bizkids operate a Breakfast Club which is hosted in Chalgrove Children’s Centre and a Pre-School at Culham Parochial School.
